The Captain’s Medal was played on Sunday September 21, 2025 at the Victoria Club. Twenty-eight players enjoyed a wonderful day on a hickory friendly classic course.
We played a format of 6 holes each of scramble, best ball (fourball) and modified alternate shot (foursomes). The winning score was an impressive 69, 3 under par for the par 72 layout. Second place came in at 74.
Many thanks to all the wonderful people at Victoria Club for hosting us.
Since 1903 the Victoria Club, a premiere private club, has provided championship golf to Riverside residents. This classic club started as a nine-hole course designed by founding member Fred Heath. Walter Fovargue expanded the course to 18 holes which opened on November 2, 1920. On January 31, 1923, future hall of famers Gene Sarazen and Jock Hutchison played an exhibition match against top Victoria amateurs Errol Fleming and J.M. Read. Sarazen and Hutchison won the match 6 & 5.
