2025 Oct 26 – Hickory Putting Ryder Cup – Palmia, Mission Viejo, CA

On Sunday October 26, 2025 SoCal Hickory Golfers played in a Ryder Cup style 54-hole putting match with the residents of Palmia, a 55+ community in Mission Viejo on their beautiful putting course.

The “Little Old Course” is a fun and challenging 18-hole bent grass course that rolls about an 8 on the Stimpmeter, just like the typical old courses.

There were two teams of 12 players each participating in match play format. The Black Team consisted of Palmia residents and they had the home court advantage. The Green Team consisted of the Hickory Players. Two points were earned for each win with 1 point earned for each tie.

First 18-hole match was Fourball. The Black Team won 11 to 1, winning 5 of the 6 games with 1 halve.

Second 18-hole match was Foursomes. The Green Team won 9 to 3, winning 4 games with 2 halves. A nice comeback.

Third 18-hole match was Singles. The Black Team dominated the Singles and closed out the match winning 18 to 6 with 8 wins and two halves.

The Black Team (Palmia residents) won using their home court advantage by a score of 32 to 16.

Between rounds we shared drinks & snacks and at the end enjoyed sandwiches along with a few drams of 2025 Ryder Cup Limited Edition Elijah Craig bourbon, the official bourbon of the Ryder Cup. Everyone had a wonderful time.

Hopefully we’ll be able to repeat it next year.
